Each year, a committee of faculty, students, and administrators selects a book for the entire Baruch community to read and discuss, both in our Freshman Seminar and in courses throughout the college. The selection for fall 2017 is the novel The Book of Unknown Americans by Cristina Henriquez.
We are pleased to offer you a copy of this novel, a compelling story that explores the American dream and the immigrant experience. To request a free copy, please complete the request form here by Friday, May 19. You will be notified via email when books are available to be picked-up.
All entering first-year students will be given a copy of the book at orientation this summer and asked to read it in its entirety in time for Convocation and the book discussion hour that follows. We especially encourage teaching faculty to include the book on their required reading lists for the fall semester.
The Library faculty and selection committee members are developing a study guide for your reference which can be found here once completed: http://guides.newman.baruch.cuny.edu/unknownamericans.
We hope that you enjoy reading The Book of Unknown Americans!
