Dear Colleagues,

Ethics Week 2013 will take place from March 18-23. All subjects that relate to ethics are appropriate, but this year the members of the provost’s office hope that issues of academic integrity will be a significant focus.

We ask members of the faculty to consider organizing some of your class time that week around issues of ethics, especially as they relate to your subject or discipline or to academic integrity more generally. (Each school has adopted learning goals in ethical awareness or ethical decision making.)

We also invite members of the faculty to work with the provost’s office to invite distinguished guests to speak that week to our community either in an event open to all or just to their class. Modest stipends for a small number of speakers are available to those who act quickly. Please contact me as soon as possible if you are interested in inviting someone.

The Abraham J. Briloff Prizes in Ethics will be awarded during Ethics Week 2013.
