From:  Dominic Esposito, Director, Sponsored Programs and Research (SPAR)

The Office of the Provost has set aside $10,000 to support faculty-led teaching and research initiatives this year. Award amounts may range from $1,000 to $5,000; the number of awards will depend on the sum of the specific amounts awarded. The three focus areas to be considered are discussed below. Collaborative and/or interdisciplinary proposals are welcome, as are proposals intended to be utilized as “seed money” leading to an external funding submission.

Enhancing Diversity: The overarching theme for this year’s competition is “Enhancing Diversity.” Baruch College is nationally recognized for the diversity of our students, staff, and faculty. While this recognition typically centers on two aspects of diversity – socio-economic class and racial or ethnic identification – diversity can encompass myriad aspects of individual and collective identity, practice, and experience. Successful proposals will articulate a contextually meaningful definition of “diversity,” and state how the project, research, or event proposed will foster, develop, or promote diversity at a disciplinary, institutional, departmental, interpersonal, or individual level.

 Specific Focus Areas

Awards will be considered for proposals focusing on one or any combination of the following areas:

1) faculty-led student research

2) teaching innovation

3) teaching with technology.

Eligibility: All full-time Baruch tenured or tenure-track faculty members, lecturers, and distinguished lecturers.

 Deadline: November 22, 2017 - Noon
