OMNI ZONA FRANCA - ¡Direct from CUBA!

 

The multi-disciplinary art, music, and poetry collective OMNI ZONA FRANCA will perform at Baruch College on Friday, March 23, from 4:00-6:30 p.m. in NVC 5-160.

 

OMNI - Zona Franca is a multi-disciplinary art and poetry collective from Cuba. OMNI members Amaury Pacheco, Eligio Pérez, and David Escalona, are currently on their first U.S. tour, performing in Chicago, Miami, Washington D.C., New Orleans, and New York.

 

OMNI’s work is a unique blend of performance, music, poetry, spoken word, rap, visual art, graffiti, video, and public art.  Together since 1997 they have produced several music/poetry CDs and videos, including the groundbreaking CD Alamar Express.  They also produce the annual independent music, art, theater, and poetry festival Poesía Sin Fin (Endless Poetry) in Cuba.

 

 

This event is made possible through the Globus Fund and the collaboration of the Departments of Modern Languages and Comparative Literatures, Sociology and Anthropology, and Black and Latino Studies, as well as the student organizations SEEK Society, Party with Baruch, MexiCulture, Hip Hop 201, and La Unidad Latina, Lambda Upsilon Lambda Fraternity, Inc.
