Forty-Seventh Commencement Exercises
Wednesday, May 30, 2012 | Jacob Javits Convention Center North
From: Shadia Sachedina, Director of Student Life & Chair, Commencement Planning Committee
On Wednesday, May 30th, Baruch College will celebrate its Forty-Seventh Commencement Exercises at the Jacob Javits Convention Center North. Please join colleagues in an academic procession as we honor our Baruch graduates and their accomplishments on this very auspicious occasion. Your role in the success of our graduates has been integral. It is only fitting that you participate and bear witness to the joy and pride of the parents, family and friends of our graduates. There will be two commencement ceremonies beginning at 10:30 am and at 3:00 pm respectively. Each ceremony will consist of both undergraduate and graduate students. As always, lunch will be served to all faculty and staff, giving you the opportunity to not only spend some time with your colleagues, but to reflect back on the past year and your accomplishments in getting our students to the next step in their life's journey.
We also invite interested faculty and staff to participate as graduation marshals at both commencement exercises. Your presence and assistance on this day is critical. These ceremonies involve over ten thousand graduates and guests. We need your help with guest and degree candidate seating, crowd control, as well as the robing of faculty and students.
To confirm your attendance at commencement, to volunteer as a marshal and/or to order your academic regalia, please complete this form online. Commencement faculty regalia is available at no cost to members of the faculty and staff. However, it is important that you place your order no later than Friday, March 30th. Late orders are subject to availability from the rental company.
You may pick up your academic regalia on May 22nd or May 23rd between 11:00 am and 7:00 pm in the Newman Vertical Campus Multipurpose Room (NVC 1-107). Garments not picked up by Thursday, May 24th will be available in the faculty robing area at the Javits Center on commencement day, Wednesday, May 30th.
If you are attending the morning ceremony only, please return your cap and gown at the conclusion of the ceremony. If you are participating in both ceremonies, you must keep your academic regalia during lunch and return it at the conclusion of the afternoon ceremony. All garments must be returned at the conclusion of the ceremonies at Javits Center. Please do not return academic regalia back at the College.
On behalf of the Commencement Planning Committee, we look forward to your participation at Baruch College’s Forty-Seventh Commencement Exercises.
