Application Deadline Extended for the CTL Faculty Fellows Spring 2017 Hybridization Seminar:

The deadline to apply for the Center for Teaching and Learning’s Spring 2017 Hybridization Seminar has been extended to November 7. Applications for the Hybridization Seminar can be found on the CTL website.

In this seminar, faculty fellows will meet throughout Spring 2017 to prepare their hybrid or online course to be taught in the upcoming year. Seminar participants will be encouraged to think creatively about how teaching in this format can open up new pedagogical opportunities within and across disciplines. With the guidance of the CTL staff and feedback from other faculty fellows, participating faculty will develop syllabi, assignments, assessments, online learning resources, and digital spaces for their course.

Fellowships are open to all Baruch faculty members in all departments. Priority for the fellowships will go to faculty members planning to teach the online/hybrid course in the Summer or Fall 2017 semesters who have not previously taught in an online/hybrid format, and to courses that have not previously been offered in this way.

Upon completion of the seminar, participating faculty will be given a course release equivalent to three credits. The course release must be taken during the Fall 2017, Winter 2018 or Spring 2018 semesters and must be agreed upon by the faculty and department in writing.

If faculty have questions, they may reach out to CTL Hybrid Coordinator, Laurie Hurson (laurie.hurson@baruch.cuny.edu).

Here’s what’s happening at the Center for Teaching and Learning the week of Oct. 31st:

All faculty and staff are invited to participate in the CTL’s programs. Click here to learn more about the CTL. If you have any questions, contact Allison.Lehr-Samuels@baruch.cuny.edu or call 646.312.2069.

CTL Conversations: “Online Discussions Boards – How do you foster engaging and educational dialogue that doesn’t take you a whole day to grade?”

Wednesday, November 2, 4pm-5:30pm, NVC 14-245

CTL Conversations is a time for faculty to come together to informally workshop, brainstorm and discuss topics related to their teaching. Each week we’ll focus on a new topic and will invite members of the Baruch community who have expertise in the topic to be on hand, too. Faculty are welcome to drop in and leave at any point during the session. Refreshments available. No RSVP necessary.
