From: Professor Esther Allen, Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature

The Dream Team is a student club that supports immigration reform. Many of its members have personal experience of undocumented status. Under the guidance of academic advisors Adam Joncich and Kaitlin Montijo, the Dream Team's Dreamer Diplomats have been working with a storytelling coach in a two-semester program that offers undocumented transfers and freshmen an opportunity to bond through intensive personal storytelling and listening training. The students then apply those skills to engage other undocumented students looking to transfer to Baruch College from other two-year CUNY schools. At the next Faculty Lunch Seminar, Joncich and Montijo will discuss that experience with trained Dreamer Diplomats Luis Aquino and Gaby Cervantes, and analyze the usefulness of storytelling within the curriculum, as well.
