From: Professor Esther Allen, Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature
In March 2017, through the sustained efforts of 22 faculty members, 27 staff members and 23 students, Baruch’s first ever Art-A-Thon offered a full day (9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.) of fifteen events including an improv theatre session, a typewriter rodeo, a musical flash mob, a marathon reading of Frankenstein, a pop-up makerspace, a bookmaking workshop, a sentence lab, lessons in how to play the blues and read a sonnet, and a performance of Kafka’s The Castle. A very good time indeed was had by all—as video at https://vimeo.com/213555424 attests. Calendars are now marked for April 12, 2018, when the next Art-A-Thon will take place. Over lunch, Weissman Dean Aldemaro Romero and some of the 2017 student organizers will discuss the high points of the first Art-A-Thon and describe how students and faculty can get involved in next year’s events.
