From: Professor Esther Allen, Department of Modern Languages and Comparative Literature
In fall 2016, students in Prof. Allison Hahn’s Speech Communication course experimented with digital images, 3D printing and virtual-reality viewers to understand how new media influence public argument and public spheres. Prof. Hahn and students Ashley Bolivard, MD Choudhury, Mohini Pachai, Sitara Sawh, and Samantha Strachan discuss how they used tools from the Baruch MakerHub to examine New York’s spaces for public deliberation, to re-imagine and redesign Baruch’s public spaces, and to analyze the role of new media in local and national public spheres.
