Jennifer Mangels, Chair of Psychology, writes:
It is with great sadness that I have to convey the news that our friend and long-time staff member, Alan Pearlman, passed away in his sleep last night. He is survived by his wife, Elise, their sons, Michael and Andrew, and their families.
I am very sad that we will never again see him, happily directing students about what courses to take, rejoicing with them as he gives them access into a course they thought they couldn’t get but needed to graduate. He was truly happy when he felt he was serving the needs of the students. I hope that we can find a way to honor that in his memory.
Alan was a Chief CLT, a beloved member of the college for his dedication to students, and a fierce defender for the PSC-CUNY community. A memorial event is being planned; details will follow.
There will be a graveside service for Alan on Sunday, April 2, at 1:30pm at Beth Moses Cemetery, 1500 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, NY 11704, (631) 249-2290 (see below for directions)
