Rachel A. Smith
Professor Rachel A. Smith teaches a variety of courses in the MSEd program in Higher Education Administration. She is available to comment on:
— Student-focused learning environments, including learning communities
— The first-year experience in higher education
— Student transition issues
— Analysis of student behavior in social networks
— Student success in college
Prior to joining the faculty at Baruch, Professor Smith taught graduate courses on higher education at Syracuse University. Using social network analysis to better understand the development of student communities and academic and social relationships, her research has been published in industry publications including Community College Review, Journal of the First-Year Experience and Students in Transition, Syracuse University Press, and Talking Stick magazine.
Professor Smith received her BA in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as well as an MS and PhD in higher education from Syracuse University.
