Baruch to Offer Marketing Analytics Programs for Graduates and Undergraduates

NEW YORK, NY -- May 13, 2015 --The Allen G. Aaronson Department of Marketing and International Business in the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College is reaching new heights by launching new undergraduate and graduate programs in marketing analytics, designed to meet the industry’s increasing needs for data scientists and analysts in the marketing industry:

  • Forbes reported in 2013 that jobs in marketing-related analytics had increased by 136% over the prior three years.
  • McKinsey estimates that by 2018, the U.S. could face a shortage of 190,000 data scientists and 1.5 million managers and analysts who understand big data.
  • Financial Times said the U.S. is expected to create 44 per cent of the new jobs for analytics experts but only 23 per cent of the supply

Starting in January 2016, undergraduate students can pursue a marketing degree with a marketing analytics concentration. Beginning this August, Master of Science candidates will have the opportunity to earn an MS in Marketing offered with a concentration in Marketing Analytics., which can be completed in one year

“Our programs cover the breadth and depth of the industry’s analytic needs, with course offerings in marketing analytics, retail analytics, big data in marketing, web intelligence, and text analytics,” said Prof. David Luna, Department Chair.

Some of the courses include: Marketing Management, Consumer Behavior, Digital Marketing, Media Planning in the Digital Age, Social Media Marketing, Data Mining for Business Analytics, and more. See the full list of courses here.
