Baruch Student Receives Three-Year Fellowship For NYC-Based Internships and Mentoring

NEW YORK, NY -- June 5, 2015 - Baruch College honors scholar Jessica Toib ‘17, has been named a recipient of the Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship. The Jeannette K. Watson Fellowship is a three year program that provides summer internships, mentoring, community and growth to promising undergraduate students from 12 New York City partner institutions. The fellowship program includes three summer internships with leading non-profit, for-profit and government organizations, with the third internship in another culture. Fellows experience the expectations and challenges of professional-level work while expanding their personal, cultural and professional horizons.

“Being a recipient of the J. K. Watson fellowship is very special to me. I am honored to have been chosen, especially because I know that there were so many strong applicants who applied,” said Jessica, who will use the fellowship as an opportunity to explore possible career choices.

“ I will also have the opportunity to go beyond every single boundary of my comfort zone. The fellowship is a chance for me to develop personally and professionally through several internships, various cultural events, and some amazing mentors.

Jessica’s first internship is with the Hunts Point Alliance for Children, where she will serve as a Marketing and Communications intern, overseeing the Hunts Point Alliance for Children’s social media accounts as well as providing website management and graphic design assistance. She began working with the organization on June 1.
