Baruch Professor Stan Altman Appointed to
NY State Blue Ribbon Commission on the Arts
NEW YORK, NY - Dr. Stan Altman, a professor in the School of Public Affairs at Baruch College has been appointed to the New York State Blue Ribbon Commission on the Arts. The commission will make recommendations to the New York State Board of Regents by November 2015 on arts assessments that students may take in place of one of the Regents examinations, which are required for high school graduation throughout the state. The commission will also examine how other states are providing pathways to graduation in the arts and will evaluate assessments that are currently being used to measure student achievement in the arts.
Dr. Altman has extensive experience in higher education administration. He currently serves as campus director of the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance for preparing students for careers in the non-profit sector and leads the partnership between Baruch College and the Rubin Museum of Art. He previously served as the interim-President of Baruch College in 2009-2010 and as Dean of Baruch’s School of Public Affairs from 1999-2005.
