Support State Funding to Baruch College/CUNY Now
Dear Faculty and Staff,
State Budget negotiations are currently underway. The New York State Legislature must pass a budget by Friday, April 1. It is a critical moment in CUNY’s history as the State is seeking to shift one third of CUNY’s overall budget to New York City. This could have a devastating impact on CUNY and more specifically, students who attend Baruch College. Please visit www.supportcuny.org to write your legislator on this very important issue. Sample letters have been provided.
In his testimony, Chancellor Milliken noted “I can say without equivocation that my highest priority as well as that of the Board of Trustees and the college presidents is to get this contract settled and pay the increases to which our over 45,000 thousand faculty and staff are entitled.” To that end, Baruch College and the University needs a stable, secure, and adequately funded budget. This will ensure that we can expand our commitment to academic excellence and to the provision of opportunity to strengthen Baruch’s and CUNY’s historic role as a principal vehicle of upward mobility.
As reflected in CUNY's 2016-2017 State Operating Budget Priorities, additional aid is requested as follows:
Messages generated from www.supportcuny.org must be sent from a computer that is not paid for with state resources; this includes smart phones and iPads. Faculty and staff also should use their personal email addresses, rather than their official college e-mail address.
Please make your view known NOW to New York State legislators
