Announcing Mark Gibbel's Departure

Dear Faculty and Staff:
I regret to inform you that Mark Gibbel, Vice President for College Advancement, has let me know that he will be leaving Baruch College on July 11, 2014 to become the Chief Development Officer at The New School University.
All of us who have worked closely with Mark will miss his friendly personality, his good humor and his fundraising acumen. He has much to be proud of from his five years of service at Baruch, including particularly the completion of the Baruch Means Business fundraising campaign, which Mark guided to a successful conclusion, close to $7 million over the announced target of $150 million. Mark has built an outstanding staff in the Office of College Advancement, and he has won the loyalty and respect of many Baruch alumni. Under Mark's leadership, the Baruch fundraising efforts were twice recognized by CASE, winning in back-to-back years the 2013 and 2014 awards for Outstanding Fundraising Performance.
While his departure will leave a gap, I am pleased to announce that David Shanton, AVP for the Office of College Advancement, has agreed to step in as Interim Vice President while we conduct a search for Mark's successor.
Please join me in wishing Mark well in his new career opportunity.
Regards,
Mitchel B. Wallerstein
President, Baruch College
