Promotion of Christina Latouf to VP
To the Baruch College Community:
I am pleased to announce the recent promotion of Christina Latouf to the position of Vice President for Communications, External Relations and Economic Development. Christina has been an assistant vice president and a member of the President’s Cabinet since August 2008. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to create a first-rate communications, marketing and public affairs function at the College. She also deserves a great deal of credit for her efforts to bring our wonderful Plaza to fruition through her sustained and successful effort to gain the support of our local community board, other neighborhood organizations and, ultimately, the approval of the NYC Department of Transportation for the closure of the one-block stretch of 25th Street.
With this promotion, Christina has agreed to take on yet another new challenge. She will now coordinate the College’s local area economic development efforts, working with the city and state to reinforce Baruch’s contributions to a well-educated workforce by creating new partnerships that can benefit directly the College’s revenue streams. Christina will engage closely with the departments and centers across the campus that are already actively engaged in such activities to bring strategic thinking and coordination to the efforts.
With the help of her talented colleagues, Christina Latouf has made the Office of Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs an integral tool that benefits the entire College. She has effectively managed a number of highly sensitive public relations challenges that have arisen over the past few years, and she has worked to shape an effective message about Baruch’s great academic success. Indeed, her guidance and strong media experience has enhanced the positive stories about Baruch, while helping to mitigate the negative. Christina strives every day to protect and enhance Baruch’s standing, and she is working now with all three schools to reinvigorate their overall market positioning around reputation, recruitment and awareness of our critical mission.
Despite the daily demands of her multiple responsibilities, Christina is always willing to meet with students, often assisting them with the realization of their ideas (especially the Undergraduate Student Government); and she has guest-lectured in several classes. Christina also volunteers her time as a member of the advisory council to Baruch’s MA in Corporate Communications.
Please join me in congratulating Christina Latouf as she takes up her new role as Vice President for Communications, External Relations and Economic Development.
