RE: Appointment of Executive Legal Counsel and Labor Designee
To: The Baruch College Community
I am pleased to announce the appointment, effective today, of Olga Dais as the College’s new Executive Legal Counsel and Labor Designee.
Reporting directly to me and serving as a member of the president’s cabinet, Ms. Dais will serve as liaison with the University's Office of Legal Affairs; interpret and advise on College governance documents, Board of Trustees bylaws, and policies, regulations and rules affecting the staff of the College. She also will administer and interpret employee collective bargaining agreements, and will be responsible for assuring compliance with laws governing employment and contract interpretation.
Olga’s versatile legal career in higher education and government has been very comprehensive, and has included both legal management and labor and employee relations. She comes to Baruch from CUNY’s York College, where she has been the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for the past 14 years. Prior to that, she managed legal agendas and was responsible for issues regarding labor and employee relations at several state and local government agencies. Ms. Dais earned her BS from Cornell University and her JD from Hofstra University School of Law.
I want to thank VP Katharine Cobb and those colleagues who served with her on the Legal Counsel search committee for developing a strong set of final candidates. I also want to extend my appreciation and thanks to Carol Schechter, who has served as Interim Executive Legal Counsel and Labor Designee since September, for her superb efforts in fulfilling this demanding role.
I ask that you please join me in making Olga Dais feel welcome at Baruch.
Mitchel B. Wallerstein
