Leadership Change in the Office of Diversity, Compliance and Equity Initiatives
Dear Faculty and Staff,
I regret to announce that Kieran Morrow, Baruch’s Chief Diversity Officer, has informed me of her decision to resign, for personal reasons, effective December 31. Kieran was appointed in August 2014, at the same time that the Office of Diversity, Compliance and Equity Initiatives was reorganized and its mission expanded. Under her leadership, the Office has made important progress in promoting greater diversity in faculty and staff searches, investigating allegations of discrimination and sexual harassment, and raising awareness of how people working in a diverse community should appropriately engage one another. We wish her well in her future endeavors.
Baruch is indeed fortunate to have available the services of an individual who is well qualified to assume the CDO position on an interim basis. Mona Jha has agreed to step in once again as Chief Diversity Officer, effective on January 3, 2017. Like Kieran, Mona is an attorney, and she previously served in this position from March 2012 through August 2013. More recently, she has been working in the office part-time as Deputy Title IX Coordinator. The office will remain fully staffed during this transition and will continue to undertake all of its functions.
Please join me in thanking Kieran for her service and in supporting Mona Jha in the interim role in this important position.
Mitchel B. Wallerstein
