New Chief Diversity Officer

To: The Baruch College Community
I am delighted to announce the appointment of the College's new Chief Diversity Officer, Ms. Kieran Batts Morrow, to head the newly renamed Office of Diversity, Compliance, and Equity Initiatives, as of today, Monday, August 18, 2014.
Kieran Batts Morrow is an attorney with extensive experience in the areas of employment, labor, diversity, and complex corporate investigations. A graduate of Duke University and Harvard Law School, Kieran has worked at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP and Morrison & Foerster LLP, and was most recently Of Counsel at Tarter Krinsky & Drogin LLP. In addition to her legal expertise, she has a passionate interest in building community around issues of diversity and inclusion.
The Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) is responsible for overseeing the collection and analysis of data; monitoring and reviewing affirmative action policy, compliance and/or procedures; submitting written reports to the President and other College officials; providing counseling and information on diversity and affirmative action issues; serving as liaison between the College community and campus interest groups; and working with deans, chairs, and directors of administrative units in the development of innovative recruitment efforts. The CDO also investigates claims brought under the University's Non-Discrimination Policies, serves as Title IX Coordinator, and is also the Section 504/ADA Coordinator. The CDO serves as liaison to the University Office of Diversity and Recruitment.
I want to thank Dr. Richard Orbe-Austin for his outstanding work as Interim Chief Diversity Officer this past year. His keen insights, innovative thinking, and commitment to both the ideals and technical requirements of the position set a high bar for the role the Office of Diversity, Compliance, and Equity Initiatives will play on campus. We very much look forward to continuing that important work.
I also want to take this opportunity to underscore our commitment to the needs of the Baruch community with regard to diversity, inclusion, and equity. Despite our current budget challenges, we are proceeding with the search for a compliance specialist to augment services provided by this critical office.
Kieran may be reached at 646-312-4542 or The Office of Diversity, Compliance, and Equity Initiatives is currently located at 55 Lexington Avenue (Newman Vertical Campus), 5th Floor, Room 205.
Please join me in welcoming Kieran to campus.
