May 16, 2011 Faculty and Staff Training for Compliance with Workplace Violence Prevention LawBaruch College and all of CUNY are mandated to fully comply with the New York State Workplace Violence Prevention Law. Your assistance is required to achieve full compliance and avoid penalties to the College. All faculty and staff, including part-time staff and adjunct faculty, are required to attend workplace violence prevention training once each academic year. Our campus due date for full compliance is June 30, 2011. Thus, in order to avoid having Baruch out of compliance with this legal requirement, I am hereby requesting that every faculty and staff member choose one of the following two options to meet the training requirement: 1. Baruch College's instructor-led class, Civility and Violence, is facilitated by Leah Schanke from the Office of Human Resources. If you have never attended, you are encouraged to do so to gain campus-specific information and to have an opportunity for discussion. 2. CUNY's online workplace violence prevention class can be accessed through the link in the email that you received from Rhonnye Ricks on May 16 in your Baruch email account. Below is the training schedule for Civility and Violence. To register for a session, please send an email to HR.Learning@baruch.cuny.edu. If you have questions about your obligations or options, please contact Ms. Schanke at 646-660-6618 or Leah.Schanke@baruch.cuny.edu. Regards, Mitchel Wallerstein |
