December 20, 2010
As 2010 draws to a close, I want to wish the entire Baruch College Community a safe and peaceful holiday season and a happy new year.
Although I only joined the College at the beginning of August, I look back upon the last five months with a great deal of satisfaction. I will, of course, always remember 2010 as the year that brought me to Baruch—and back home to New York City. But I also want you to know how much I have enjoyed the opportunity to begin to get to know the faculty, staff and students of this wonderful institution. You are indeed an impressive group!
Baruch College had much to be proud of this year. We solidified our reputation in the national rankings as one of the most outstanding public colleges in the United States. And we saw our faculty and students receive well-deserved recognition. But perhaps of greatest significance, we all pulled together to offer our students the best public education despite the College's and CUNY’s difficult economic situation.
Recognizing our challenges, I nevertheless look ahead to 2011 with a sense of excitement. I am fully confident that Baruch College will continue to make great strides. I believe that our mission of offering a high value, low cost education to the students of the City of New York is more important than ever. Though we may face some difficulties over the next couple of years, our long term future has never been brighter!
Best wishes to one and all for a healthy and successful New Year.
