To the Baruch College Community,
This Friday, January 6th, will be Gabe Eszterhas’s last day as Vice President for Administration and Finance at Baruch. As I previously announced, Gabe is relocating to Florida for family reasons. In his all-too-brief time at the College, Gabe has been a valued advisor and a highly successful manager and budget and finance expert, and I am very sorry to have to bid him farewell. Please join me in offering best wishes to Gabe for much success in the future.
Almost since his arrival, Gabe has had to guide the College through an unprecedented period of financial turbulence, due to the State cuts to the CUNY budget. He responded with great competence, dedication, and creativity. Replacing him will not be easy, but we have already launched a national search, which is being chaired by AVP Arthur Downing. Gabe also has agreed to help us during this transition on certain pending matters that can be handled from a distance in Florida.
Until the search reaches a successful conclusion and a new VPAF is in place, I have asked AVP Mary Finnen if she will serve as interim vice president, and she has agreed to do so. Mary will be ably supported in their respective areas by AVP Mary Rivers; Interim Human Resources Director Donna Katz, BCF Controller Irina Laskin, and AVP Jim Lloyd, the latter of whom will report directly to me on facility matters (and in regular consultation with Mary Finnen) during the interim.
