Uniquely NYC
Five Borough Bike Tour
NYC's Five Boro Bike Tour is the largest recreational cycling event in the United States. Every year, on the first Sunday of May, over 30,000 biking enthusiasts embark on a 42 mile adventure. This highly anticipated, traffic-free event takes riders through all five boroughs of NYC and across five major bridges. Cyclists of various skill sets enjoy a flat ride except for the bridges. There is music, rest stops and a lot of fresh air to enjoy along the bike route.
Over 14 miles of the course commence through the streets of Manhattan. The tour begins in Battery Park, continues into midtown and through the hills of Central Park, crosses a small section of the Bronx and winds back down the FDR before crossing the 59th Street Bridge into Queens. The remaining 28 miles of the tour runs through picturesque Astoria Park in Queens, along the East River and into downtown Brooklyn. Next, riders go along the Brooklyn waterfront and across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to the finish line at Staten Island's, Fort Wadsworth.
All bikers are treated to a post-tour festival in Staten Island with live music, food and massage therapists.
