Within the five boroughs of New York City, there are over 170 museums including zoos and specialized public libraries and over 1,000 art galleries. New York City is also known for being a home to performance arts, with over 100 theaters, including Broadway and Off-Broadway theaters. There are overwhelming numbers of opera and dance companies, orchestras, cabarets and nightclubs.
