Long Island Bus

  • LI Bus was formed in 1973 by the combination of ten private bus carriers into a unified transportation system, links 96 communities, 47 Long Island Railroad stations, five subway stations, and seven major shopping malls.
  • To reduce congestion and increase mobility on Long Island, LI Bus has begun to tap new markets by coordinating services more closely with the LIRR, reconfiguring routes to meet north-south travel demand, and running specialized shuttles that give Long Islanders new access to jobs, educational institutions, and retail sales.
