Baruch College to Host International Conference and Welcome Leaders from Global Universities
NEW YORK, NY - March 26, 2013 ? The World Cities World Class University Network Conference (WC2) is being hosted by the City University of New York at Baruch College from April 15 to April 17, 2013.
The International WC2 Conference unites top universities in major cities worldwide to address cultural, environmental, and political issues of common interest to the respective colleges and their cities. WC2 promotes close interaction between universities, local government and business communities.
Baruch College President Mitchel Wallerstein and CUNY Chancellor Matthew Goldstein will launch the conference with welcoming remarks.
Dean Jeffery Peck of Baruch’s Weissman School of Arts and Sciences will moderate a panel discussion titled: "Global Cities/Global Universities: A Complicated Relationship,” with representatives from the participating universities. Panelists include: Constantine Arcoumanis-City University London; David Birdsell-Baruch College; Raul Machado-Universidad de S?o Paulo; Judy Tsui- Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
The WC2 network, which was established in September 2010, holds two meetings per year. In addition to CUNY, some other WC2 university members include Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Universidad Autonoma Metropolitana in Mexico, University of Delhi and University of Sao Paulo. This year’s participating universities are: City University of New York; City University London? England; Hong Kong Polytechnic University? China; Northeastern University? United States; Technische Universit?t Berlin? Germany; Universidad Aut?noma Metropolitana? Mexico; University of Sao Paulo? Brazil; University of Delhi? India; Politecnico di Milano? Italy; St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University? Russia; and, Tonji University? China.
