Defeats Rutgers-Newark (57-56)
--Advance To ECAC Semifinals Friday To Host FDU-Florham--

Marrero scored 18 points and Ally Stamatiades had 13 points
to give Baruch a 57-56 win over Rutgers-Newark in the quarterfinals
of the ECAC Postseason Tournament played on Wednesday night
in the ARC.
Baruch advances to play FDU-Florham on Friday night. Tip off
in the ARC is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. FDU-Florham defeated
Montclair State earlier this evening by the score of 62-53.
Rutgers-Newark (15-12) entered the intermission leading, 23-20,
behind 13 points from Sabrina Sanchez.
Baruch (21-6) played a sluggish first half, and shot only
22 percent (8-37) from the field. They started the second
half strong scoring the first nine points to take a 29-23
lead.
Rutgers-Newark came back to take a one-point lead, 47-46,
on a jumper by Kristina Petrillo with 6:37 remaining.
Baruch responded behind Marrero's back-to-back 3-pointers,
and a lay up by Diane Ramirez to take a 56-48 lead.
Rutgers-Newark (15-12) put together another rally in the final
minute on back-to-back 3-pointers by Toni Roselli to tie the
game at 56 with 36 seconds left.
Nerlande Nicolas then fouled Ramirez with 24 seconds, and
she went to the free throw line to hit one-of-two free throws
for a one-point Baruch lead.
The final moments saw the visitors from New Jersey with the
final possession, but they were unable to get a good shot
off as the clock ran out.
Sanchez finished as Rutgers-Newark's leading scorer with 13
points, while Roselli and Eni Fageyinbo each added 12 points.
