(New York, NY, August 12, 2010) Baruch College has been ranked 19th among America’s “best college buys” on the just-released Forbes college ranking list. This is the first time Baruch has been ranked among the top twenty best college “buys” in the country. Last year Baruch College placed at #35.

This is the third year that Forbes has issued a list of college rankings. The list is compiled “from the students’ point of view,” according to the editors who rank more than 610 public and private colleges and universities. Baruch’s overall ranking was #363, leading the charge for all other CUNY senior colleges.

According to the Forbes report, “Whether they’re in the top 10 or near the end of the list, all 610 schools in this ranking count among the best in the country.” The editors note that they review just 9% of the country’s 6,600 accredited postsecondary institutions.

The Forbes ‘best buys” list is intended to show parents and prospective students “where you can get the most quality for each tuition dollar spent.” Baruch’s #19 ranking stands out since a number of schools on this list, including U.S. Air Force, Military and Naval Academies, are tuition-free.

The overall Forbes rankings are based on criteria that include the salaries of graduates, number of prominent alumni the school has produced, student satisfaction with the total college experience, and the amount of debt incurred to finance college education.
