New York, NY – February 13, 2008 –More than 20 communications executives from UBS Financial Services, Grey Global Group, Accenture, Pfizer, and other major corporations attended the inaugural meeting of a new advisory group for Baruch College’s Master of Arts in Corporate Communications on Monday, Feb. 4. The group, which includes Baruch College alumni working in the communications industry along with other accomplished specialists in the field, aims to raise the program’s profile by sponsoring events, supporting faculty development and researching, and mentoring students.

“We are pleased to have such a well respected and renowned group of professionals as advisors,” said Professor Michael Goodman, director of the master’s program and creator of the advisory board. “This is their opportunity to engage in the education and the molding of the next generation of corporate communication executives.”

The advisory board aims to meet twice a year as a group, and members will also work with the program’s faculty and individual students to secure internships and host open houses with employers in the field. “We are very fortunate that they would come to Baruch and give us the benefit of their expertise," added Goodman, who says that the group is part of a larger strategic plan to establish the corporate communication program as "the premier graduate program of its kind."

Launched in 1999, the program has 112 alumni and approximately 70 currently enrolled students. For more information on the master’s degree, or on the new advisory board, contact the Department of Communication Studies at 646-312- 3720.
