Baruch College MBA Students Win New York ACG Cup Competition

New York, NY April 13, 2011 -- Honors students from Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business placed first - beating out regional schools Cornell University, Fordham University, Hofstra University, New York University, Pace University, and St. John's University to win the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) New York Chapter's ACG Cup competition. The case study competition is designed to bring together the brightest MBA students and provide them with real world experience and invaluable insights into mergers and acquisitions, investment banking, financial advisory and private equity by giving them access to the leading practitioners in those fields. The Baruch College team, including students Shmuel Lieberman, Aditya Bhatt, Ksenia O'Neil and Erik Andersen, will receive the winning cash prize of $10,000.

The ACG Cup is hosted by the ACG New York, the premier New York membership organization that facilitates relationship-building and focused education for middle market deal-making professionals in the world's financial market. The competition is the culmination of a series of intra-school competitions. For the first round, each team analyzed and presented their solutions and recommendations to a complex business case that required a combination of corporate strategy, finance and valuation skills. The top team from each school then moved into the finals where their presentation and analysis of a real-world case study was judged by a panel of seasoned mergers and acquisitions professionals from the ACG community.

"Several Zicklin students have excelled in a string of recent case competitions over the past several weeks," said Alan Rosenbloom, Special Assistant to the Dean.  "These case competitions not only offer our students the unique opportunity to develop valuable business leadership and communication skills, they also provide the confidence necessary to succeed outside the classroom."

Baruch College's Zicklin School of Business is the largest accredited collegiate school of business in the United States. In addition to its undergraduate business education, the Zicklin School offers an array of premier graduate business degree programs including nationally ranked undergraduate, part-time, and full-time MBA programs, and an accelerated MBA, specialized masters, and doctoral programs.
