The Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship Hosts "Pop-Up Makerspace" at Baruch College

Event Offers Opportunity to Explore New Technologies



 

 

NEW YORK, NY-March 18, 2015 - The Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship at Baruch College presents “Pop-up Makerspace” on Thursday, March 19 from 12:30-3:00 p.m. in the Field Center at 55 Lexington Avenue, Room 2-140. All Baruch College students, faculty and staff are invited to attend. The Pop-up Makerspace allows visitors to try out different technologies, toys and crafts. Workshops will also be presented. Space is limited.

“3D Modeling Workshop”

Thursday March 19, 12:45-1:30 p.m. and 1:45-2:30 p.m.

55 Lexington Avenue (Newman Vertical Campus), Field Center, Room 2-140

 Learn how to create your own 3D models which you can later print on a 3D printer in this introductory workshop. For the optimal experience, bring your own laptop already with the free Sketchup software already installed. Your laptop should let you have administrative passwords and privileges.

 

“Arduino Workshop”

Thursday March 19, 12:45-1:30 p.m. and 1:45 -2:30 p.m.

55 Lexington Avenue (Newman Vertical Campus), Field Center, Room 2-140

 Get started learning Arduino basics on the Sparkfun Inventor’s Kit. Arduino is an open-source electronics platform based on easy-to-use hardware and software that lets you make interactive projects like a Talking Clock, Intrusion Alarm or Line Follower Robot. For the optimal experience, bring your own laptop already loaded with the free Arduino software and Processing software already installed. Your laptop should let you have administrative passwords and privileges.
