Future @ Risk: Cyber-Security & Information Assurance

NEW YORK, NY - March 20, 2013  The Statistics and Computer Information Systems (SCIS) Department at Baruch College is offering a seminar on April 9 to educate people about the threats and risks in cyber security and information assurance. The free seminar, “Future @ Risk: Cyber-Security & Information Assurance,” is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the William and Anita Newman Conference Center, Room H750, and is open to all Baruch College students and members of the public.

The half-day seminar will focus on emerging threats and risks in cyber security and information assurance. Some of the most common threats are aimed at corporations and include: corruption of corporate Websites, stealing corporate data and selling client information and stealing proprietary information.

A panel discussion is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., featuring Alan E. Brill, CISSP, CFE, CIPP, FAAFS, Senior Managing Director, Kroll Advisory Solutions; Dr. John W. Collins, Jr., CPP, Chairperson of Professional Security Studies, College of Professional Studies at NJCU & Lieutenant Colonel, United States Army (Retired); and Dr. Sanjay Goel, Director of Research at the NYS Center for Information Forensics and Assurance, and Associate Professor at the University of Albany. The discussion will be moderated by Jim Samuel, SCIS adjunct professor, risk mitigation specialist and cyber-security enthusiast.
