RINA
Systems Donates $600,000 in Financial
Services Software to Baruch College's Wasserman Trading Floor
(New York, NY, Sept. 20, 2004)—RINA Systems, a premier
financial services technology firm, will provide Baruch College’s
Bert W. and Sandra Wasserman Trading Floor with 60 licenses
of RINA’s PortfolioStream Software, a gift valued at
$600,000.
The Wasserman Trading Floor at Baruch is a fully-equipped
state-of-the-art academic trading floor where students learn
first hand, using the same technology, work station set-ups
and analytic tools used on Wall Street by the major financial
firms. It is located in the Subotnick Financial Services Center
at Baruch, a teaching center for students in finance, computer
information systems, economics and other business disciplines.
Students at Baruch’s Wasserman Trading Floor will use
the RINA PortfolioStream Software to perform advanced analytical
modeling of portfolios that span multiple asset classes. The
software’s powerful optimization features will allow
them to gain insight into multiple trading strategies.
“It is only fitting that the largest and most advanced
academic trading floor in the US provides its students with
the most advanced, professional grade software tools used
in the industry,” said Richard Holowczak, associate
professor in Baruch’s department of computer information
systems and director of the Wasserman Trading Floor / Subotnick
Financial Services Center. “The RINA Systems software,
combined with the state of the art facilities at the Wasserman
Trading Floor, provides Baruch students with an unprecedented
educational opportunity available nowhere else in the New
York City area.”
“RINA Systems is excited to make available to students
at Baruch College PortfolioStream, our best-of-breed analytics,
which enables users to test baskets of securities with TradeStation
and conduct portfolio simulations. We believe this donation
will further augment the Baruch College’s state-of-the-art
academic trading floor,” said James Goldcamp, Manager,
RINA System’s Portfolio Analysis Group.
Baruch College, a senior college in the CUNY system, is home
to the Zicklin School of Business, the largest accredited
business school in the United States, with an undergraduate
business program ranked nationally in the US News & World
Report’s top 50, and a part-time MBA program in the
top 20. Baruch was also ranked the most diverse college in
America for the fifth straight year by US News in its most
recent edition of America’s Best Colleges.”
