NEW YORK, NY-March 24, 2015 - The Real Estate Department of the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College will host “Global Real Estate Markets: Trends, Risks, and Opportunities,” a conference inviting international real estate investors, developers, and academic researchers to assess recent and future trends as well as risks in global real estate investing. The conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 29 in room 14-220 of the Newman Vertical Campus at Baruch College.

The conference is co-sponsored by the Department of Real Estate at Baruch College-CUNY; Vornado Realty Trust, Brookfield Office Properties, Time Equities, and NAREIT.

The keynote address will be presented by Sam Zell, Founder & Chairman of Equity Group Investments at 9:00 a.m. with an introduction by Dennis Friedrich, CEO of Brookfield Office Properties.

“U.S. real estate firms are continually assessing the advantages and risks of making investments in other countries,” said Friedrich. “This conference is the first time we have looked carefully at the question of how U.S. firms should invest in alternative global real estate assets.”

This half-day conference will convene major international real estate investors, developers, and academic researchers to assess recent and future trends as well as risks in global real estate investing. The focus is upon U.S. investors looking out to overseas or global markets to invest rather than overseas capital flowing into the United States looking for yield appropriate real estate deals.
