NEW YORK, NY-February 20, 2013 Dr. Jeffrey Peck, Dean of the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences and Vice Provost for Global Strategies at Baruch College has been selected to serve as a panelist during the 2013 Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) Annual Conference, scheduled from Feb. 17-20, in New Orleans, LA.

This year’s theme, “Re-imagining Higher Education in a Global Context” will explore the shift from “internationalizing” higher education as a process applied to institutions to instead re-imagining and re-visioning higher education in a globalized world.

Dean Peck will be participating in three panel discussions:

  • “An Inside Look at Building US-Brazil Academic Partnerships,” features higher education leaders from the United States and Brazil who will discuss challenges and opportunities in building US-Brazil academic partnerships.
  • “Reuniting Theory and Practice: Academic v. Administrative Approaches to Understanding Global Change,” will explore intersections and contradictions between academic and administrative approaches to globalization.
  • “Developing Strategic International Partnerships: Models for Linkages with Brazil, India, China and Indonesia,” will focus on how to develop strategic and sustainable international partnerships, providing in-depth models from Brazil, India, China, and Indonesia.

Dr. Peck’s current research focuses on the globalization of higher education, particularly the role of collaborative research and pedagogy. He was recently selected as a member of the Advisory Council (Beirat) of the German Center for Research and Innovation (GCRI) effective March 2013. As a GCRI council member, Dean Peck will help ensure that the GCRI is well-connected to key stakeholders in the United States and Germany, and will provide guidance in programming, strategizing and periodically reviewing GCRI’s overall effectiveness.
