Baruch College Welcomes Wall Street Powerhouse and Author Carla A. Harris to Speak on Today's Career Challenges and Valuable Lessons in the Workplace
NEW YORK, NY-March 24, 2015 - Baruch College’s Starr Career Development Center and the Graduate Career Management Center are inviting students to meet Carla A. Harris, Vice Chairman of Wealth Management at Morgan Stanley, and author of Strategize to Win: The New Way to Start Out, Step Up , Or Start Over in Your Career.
Harris will lead a short program for Baruch students about the tools they need to get “unstuck” from bad situations, redirect momentum, and manage their careers. Immediately following, a book signing will be held at the College’s Baruch Barnes & Noble Bookstore.
Carla A. Harris is the Vice Chairman, Global Wealth Management, Managing Director and Senior Client Advisor at Morgan Stanley where she has worked for almost three decades. She has degrees from Harvard University and Harvard Business School and numerous honorary doctorates. The immediate past chair of the board of the Morgan Stanley Foundation, she sits on the boards for many other philanthropic organizations. Carla was also recently named Chairperson of the National Women’s Business Council, appointed by President Barack Obama. Her first book was entitled Expect to Win. An accomplished gospel singer, she lives in New Jersey.
In her latest book, Strategize to Win (Hudson Street Press), Harris informs readers how to redirect and reposition themselves and their career successfully. From deciding what you want to do to figuring out when and why to do it; from learning to perceive important nuances to having the self-awareness that allows you to discern the role you play in a corporate environment, Harris shows you how to leverage the skills you already have and can easily acquire to succeed at a much higher level or in an entirely different career. She also addresses how to keep moving forward once you land a position, since the skills that got you there won’t be the skills that keep you there.
