New York, NY (November 6, 2004) - The men's soccer team defeated John Jay College in penalty kicks (4-2) to win the CUNY Athletic Conference Tournament Final played this afternoon at the College of Staten Island.

The victory automatically gives Baruch (11-3-1) their first-ever berth to the NCAA Division III Men's Soccer Tournament, which begins with first round action this upcoming Wednesday.

Who the men will play, where exactly, and at what time will not be known until late Sunday night by the NCAA selection committee. The information will be posted on the Baruch athletics website (www.baruch.cuny.edu/athletics), as soon as it becomes available.

John Jay and Baruch played 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute sudden death overtimes to end in a scoreless tie and force penalty kicks (best of five). Baruch scored on their first four penalty kicks attempts and won it after goalkeeper Jason Weinberg saved the fourth attempt by John Jay to win, 4-2.

Despite the win, Baruch had their work cut out for them all game as John Jay outshot them, 25-13, and forced Weinberg to make 10 total saves. Baruch & John Jay also had one shot that hit the crossbar.

The men will now look to extend their terrific season on Wednesday against an opponent to be determined.
