Baruch Introduces Interactive Tutorial Guide For Students Taking Proficiency Exam
Disk Formally Launches at Reception for Faculty and Staff on March 7
Members of the CUNY community are invited to attend the unveiling
of a new interactive tutorial CD-ROM, ‘Guide to the
CUNY Proficiency Exam’, in the Information and Technology
Building’s Newman Conference Center (151 East 25th Street)
on Monday, March 7. The event begins at 5:30 PM, and refreshments
will be served.
The tutorial prepares students to take the university-wide
Proficiency Exam (CPE), consisting of a two-hour Analytic
Reading and Writing section and a one-hour Analyzing and Integrating
Materials from Graphs and Text test. Students are required
to take the test between registering for their forty-fifth
credit and completing their sixtieth credit. All CUNY students
must pass the CPE before graduating from a community college
or advancing to their junior year in a senior college.
A collaborative project between the CPE Committee, The Office
of Advisement and Orientation, The Student Academic Consulting
Center, and the Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute,
the CD-ROM is the latest in a series of interactive tutorials
the college has produced in conjunction with Kognito Solutions
LLC, a company that is both owned and managed by Baruch alumni.
