Baruch College Welcomes Bernard L. Schwartz for Discussion on Business, Advocacy, and Philanthropy
NEW YORK, NY- September 25, 2013 - The Corporate Ethics and Etiquette Society at Baruch College will host guest speaker and Baruch alumnus Bernard L. Schwartz '48 a presentation, "Why Do Ethics Matter? A Business Without Values is a Business at Risk" on October 1. The event is co-sponsored by Baruch’s Executives on Campus, Office of College Advancement and Alumni Relations Office.
Bernard Schwartz is founder of the Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute at Baruch College and the Chairman and CEO of BLS Investments, LLC. He retired in 2006 as Chairman and CEO of Loral Space & Communications Inc.
The presentation, moderated by David Birdsell, Dean of the School of Public Affairs, will focus on Mr. Schwartz’ career, including his efforts in creating a business model for the commercialization of space, his experience investing in programs like Third Way, the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, as well as his philanthropic efforts. Mr. Schwartz will also speak about politics and philanthropy today, the role that business plays in income inequality, and other topics related to business ethics.
