NEW YORK, NY-February 25, 2013 Baruch College’s Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship and the Flatiron 23rd Street Partnership are giving small business owners an opportunity to learn how technology and social media can enhance their marketing efforts and expand their customer outreach.

On March 12, “Getting to the Next Level: Here, There & Everywhere,” will bring together thought leaders in technology, small business management and higher education to offer workshops that address some of the challenges small businesses are facing today. The conference is FREE and scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. in Baruch’s Newman Conference Center (7th Floor), located at 151 East 25th Street. Registration is available online.

Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney will present opening remarks during the networking breakfast. The conference includes workshops that will run concurrently, produced with the support of General Assembly and Baruch College's Division of Continuing and Professional Studies (CAPS):

  • Workshop I: Developing Your Brand on Facebook and Twitter presented by Eric Metelka, Founder and CEO, Digital Media Certification

This workshop will explore how users interact with brands online, and how businesses can deliver great content via Twitter and Facebook.

  • Workshop II: Intro to User Acquisition Marketing presented by Anna Lindow, New York Regional Director, General Assembly

This workshop serves as a basic introduction to the practice aimed at giving participants an overview of key terminology, concepts and approaches.

  • Workshop III: Intro to Business Development presented by Keith Cutler, Principal, KC Marketing Group

This workshop provides a detailed understanding of the sales process, from identifying your audience and making key customer connections, to creating effective presentations and nailing the pitch. Attendees will come away with valuable sales and networking techniques.

  • Workshop IV: Intro to Exporting: Taking a Global Step - Facilitated by Martin K. Behr III, Esq., International Trade Instructor from Baruch College, Division of Continuing and Professional Studies. Moderated by Lene Skou, Deputy Director at Baruch College Weissman Center for International Business with panelists Toni Corsini from the US Small Business Administration, US Export Assistance Center; Ryan Hollowell, M.B.A., M.A. from U.S. Department of Commerce; and Regina Gordin from Export-Import Bank of the United States.

This workshop will present international trade professionals who will share their insights about how exporting can grow your business.

Resource tables will be hosted by New York City Department of Small Business Services - NYC Business Solutions, New York City Department of Consumer Affairs, U.S. Small Business Administration, Baruch College’s Division of Continuing and Professional Studies and the Lawrence N. Field Center for Entrepreneurship.
