New York, NY - April 22, 2007--The Peer-Reviewed Instructional Materials Online (PRIMO) Committee of the Instruction Section of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) has selected the Newman Library’s online tutorial: A Beginner’s Guide to Business Research as its Site of the Month for February 2007.

The tutorial was developed by Baruch College Professor Louise Klusek, Head of Reference at the Newman Library, and is an information literacy component of Introduction to Business, a course required of all students intending to major in business at Baruch. The guide covers two major sources of information: company websites, including annual reports, 10-K filings, webcasts and press releases, and business databases for news, company profiles, histories and up-to-date stock information.

The PRIMO website includes an interview with Professor Klusek about the development and use of the tutorial. Klusek was also a key member of the development team for the College’s web tutorial: “Guide to Financial Statements” which explains income statements, balance sheets and cash flow statements, and includes interactive activities, quizzes and a printable study guide. The tutorial received the 2007 Classic Award from the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT). It is freely available for educational purposes, and it is used by students and faculty nationwide.
