Baruch College Hosts 5th Annual Symposium on Sustainable Business:

"Profits and Politics: Sustainability and the Global Corporation"

NEW YORK, NY-January 29, 2013 On February 8, Baruch College’s Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity and Corporate Communication International present the 5th Annual Symposium entitled, “Profits and Politics: Sustainability and the Global Corporation.”

This year’s symposium will concentrate on three areas: the environment, social and governance issues as they relate to measuring and reporting on business sustainability, and corporate social responsibility.


9 a.m. 10:15 a.m.: A panel will investigate the influence of corporations on the energy and economic policy making of sovereign nationals.

10:30 a.m.-11:45 a.m.: A panel will discuss how major global corporations have fallen short of their own labor and trade standards and will examine current practices for meeting global social standards for corporate integrity and good behavior.

12 p.m. -1:15 p.m.: A panel will discuss the challenges of good corporate governance: being transparent, (how much and to whom?) as well as stakeholder engagement (what do stakeholders have a right to ask of the corporation?)
