Baruch College Presents the 12th Annual Symposium on Communication
June 1st Event Welcomes Notable Media Professionals and a
Live Radio Interview with Baruch Students
New York, NY, May 31, 2012 – The Bernard L. Schwartz Communication Institute at Baruch College will host its 12th annual symposium on Communication and Communication-Intensive Instruction on Friday, June 1.
For 12 years, this event has brought together business leaders and education professionals in an all-day exploration of how to best provide undergraduates and beginning professionals with the tools they need to grow as effective, confident speakers and writers. This year’s focus with be on the future of communication in business and education, including effective communication in the boardroom and in the classroom, social media, new genres of communication, generational differences, and differing perspectives on communication instruction within business and academia.
The day will feature roundtable discussions and workshops with notable media professionals, including
Fortune Magazine Assistant Managing Editor and frequent business news commentator Leigh Gallagher; Peter Elbow, Author of Vernacular Eloquence: What Speech Can Bring to Writing and Professor Emeritus of English at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst; Blogger and published author Mignon Fogarty, aka Grammar Girl; Chairman and CEO of BLS Investments, LLC Bernard L. Schwartz and Baruch College President Mitchel B. Wallerstein.
In addition, Randy Cohen, a former New York Times columnist and host of WAMC’s Person Place Thing will host a live radio interview with a new guest lineup. Cohen will be speaking with Baruch students Elisabeth Greenberg, Ricardo Hernandez and Albert Matthew, who will share their Baruch experiences.
