The University of Amsterdam offers summer programs through their UvA Summer School that cover different topics in the humanities, urban studies, political science and social sciences. Each program has its own application deadline and application.

Migration and Integration: Refugees, Rights & Realities: This interdisciplinary three-week course introduces students to key issues in the legal, (geo)political, sociological and anthropological analysis of forced migration.

Planning the Cycling City: This graduate level program unravels urban cycling from a critical and interdisciplinary perspective. Students will draw on historical and current events and thinking and engage with top Dutch and international experts and leader. Students will also learn a host of essential skills that support meaningful understanding, developing and fostering of cycling cities.

Security Governance & Conflict Resolution: This three-week program will give students an in-depth look into the ways in which thinking and speaking about security have changed over time, and how stakeholders on various levels deal with conflicts and security, ranging from the international arena to the state and from private security companies to communities and individuals.

Summer Institute on Addiction: This two-week Summer Institute seeks to provide an interdisciplinary approach and lens to the study of addiction. The course will focus on a variety of topics, including policy models, prevention, and evidenced based treatment and positive emotion interventions.

Summer Institute on Sexuality, Culture and Society: During this four-week advanced programme, students will gain knowledge of sexuality as it intersects with ethnicity, nationality, class, and religion, and will become more familiar with how sexuality is conceptualized and practiced within research, programmatic, and advocacy venues.

The Circular City: Towards a Sustainable Urban Ecosystem: This three-week interdisciplinary and hands-on course unravels the complexity behind truly sustainable urban development. In this course, students are taught how to leverage the potential of cities via a new paradigm for urban planning and design: urban metabolism.
