Andrea Costa Egan, Baruch MPA ’97, is a mission-driven nonprofit management professional with more than 25 years of experience serving a variety of organizations -- as employee, trustee, consultant and volunteer.

As a professional fundraiser, Andrea has a long track record of helping institutions realize ambitious revenue goals for annual operations, endowments, and capital campaigns. After serving in development positions with Syracuse University, Purchase College and the Police Athletic League, Andrea went on to manage a $16.8 million annual giving program at the Metropolitan Opera, and subsequently was appointed Director of Development at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, NY.  Andrea completed a $25 million capital campaign at Poly two years ahead of schedule, to include a $2.5 million gift which was, at the time, the single largest gift in the school’s history.

Andrea went on to hold Development Director, consulting and other senior level administrative positions with School of the Holy Child in Rye, NY, Saddle River Day School in Saddle River, NJ, Bergen County’s United Way and Ruotolo Associates in Cresskill, NJ. In addition to directing fundraising activities, Andrea facilitated board retreats, implemented feasibility studies, served on executive search committees, and directed cross-functional teams for marketing and accreditation endeavors.

Andrea is currently Chair of the Board of Trustees of Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative ( in Hackensack, NJ, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of St. Ignatius School (, located in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx. As Chair of both organizations’ governance committees, Andrea has worked tirelessly to restructure the boards’ activities so that well-functioning committee structures are in place, ensuring more strategic and forward-thinking meetings of the full boards. Previous board positions held by Andrea include the Glen Rock Education Foundation, a k-12 public education foundation in New Jersey where Andrea is co-founder and former treasurer, and Women United in Philanthropy, the first women’s giving circle in New Jersey where Andrea is a past member of the grants committee.

After living and studying abroad in Venezuela, Andrea graduated magna cum laude from Syracuse University with an AB in Policy Studies and a minor in Spanish. She earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Baruch College, where she was also a recipient of the Clarke Scholarship for Nonprofit Management. Andrea received her designation as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) in 2003 and remained active until 2015.
