Professor Main holds a Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University and a two-year MPA from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.
He is author of the book, Homelessness in New York City: Policymaking from Koch to de Blasio, which is published by NYU Press, and editor of the anthology, Is the American Constitution Obsolete?
His academic articles have been published in, Perspectives on Political Science; Review of Policy Research, Administration & Society; Public Affairs Quarterly; and The Journal of Urban Affairs. He has also written for Commentary, The City Journal, Policy Review, The Public Interest, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Daily News and The New York Post.
His research interests include: homelessness, social welfare policy, urban politics, public administration, bureaucracy, and the American Constitution and founding, and extremist political ideologies.
