Public Affairs: Empowering Students with Civic Engagement

roundtable head
Tuesday, May 20, 2014
5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Baruch College Information & Technology Building,
Newman Conference Center, 7th Floor, Room 750
151 East 25th Street (between Lexington & 3rd Avenues)

Amid college requirements, enrollment costs, and academic pressures, high school students are left little time to explore their passions. There is often a desire to help others and do something meaningful. But how?

In a roundtable discussion led by the Associate Dean of Baruch College's School of Public Affairs, local community organizations will explore the role of civic engagement and nonprofit leadership in New York City's college readiness programs. They will also discuss how to cultivate an interest in public service, and how to connect students with careers through a public affairs degree. CUNY and Baruch representatives will be present to provide a university perspective.
