Baruch College Teams Win 2 of Top 5 Places at 8th Annual MIT Fall Trading Competition
NEW YORK, NY - November 25, 2015 - Students from Baruch College’s Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) won 2nd and 5th place at the 8th Annual Traders @MIT Fall Intercollegiate Trading Competition held on November 14. Baruch assembled two teams which placed in the top five out of 35 teams from Brown, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, Northwestern, NYU, Princeton, UCBerkeley, UChicago, UIllinois, UPenn, Yale, and Wellesley.
The Baruch MFE Team members were: Aleksandra Mikhaylova, and Anik Roy (2nd place team), and Bell Chen and Raymond Wong (5th place team).
Aleksandra Mikhaylova’16 is a Macaulay College and Baruch College student majoring in Statistics and Quantitative Modeling. She will join Goldman Sachs upon graduation. Anik Roy’16 is majoring in Finance with a minor in Mathematics. Roy is graduating in January 2016 and will pursue a Master’s in Financial Engineering at Baruch.
Bell Chen’16 is majoring in Mathematics with a minor in Economics, and Raymond Wong’16 is studying Finance with a minor in Economics.
A team from MIT won the competition, with Dartmouth and Princeton rounding up the top five.
The one-day competition consisted of six cases, including quant open outcry, options trading, sales and trading, price discovery and FX Algo Trading. Baruch students did particularly well in quant open outcry, price discovery, and options trading, where at least one team was among the top six teams overall.
