"One More Reason" is a charitable initiative by Attilio Meucci.
Learning, teaching and practicing quantitative finance is fun. It is also supposed to pay our bills. "One More Reason" to do what we do is to help people with more urgent needs than ours.
"One More Reason" started in 2005, when Attilio donated the first royalty check from his book to charity. After that, Attilio donated the subsequent checks. Those royalties were followed by the proceeds from a series of executive trainings and seminars on quantitative finance which Attilio has offered worldwide in his free time.
As of today, "One More Reason" has collected and donated around $100,000 US. You can learn more about "One More Reason" here.
The 2009 edition of the Advanced Risk and Portfolio Management intensive course represents the climax of "One More Reason".
Attilio and the organizers, namely the Baruch College's Financial Engineering program and Bloomberg ALPHA portfolio analytics and risk platform, will not charge any fees for their time and effort.
Furthermore, after minimum costs are covered, each dollar paid by the participants will turn into a 50 cent donation to charity and a 50 cent investment in education at CUNY, the City University of New York.
The charitable donations will be split in equal parts among the following well-established associations:
Your feedback on the above policy is highly appreciated, even if you do not plan to attend the course.
